SERVING THE COMMUNITY SINCE 1921

The New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department (NVVFD) has been serving the community since 1921. Since its inception, our members have been fiscal stewards of the organization. The NVVFD established, and has faithfully and thoughtfully stewarded, a Reinvestment Fund to ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of our organization. Each year, the NVVFD contributes a portion of the annual funds raised from donations and gifts received from our generous community to the Reinvestment Fund.

The department will be replacing a 32-year old fire truck and a 31-year old tender (water tanker), which have been maintained to the highest standards. The time is now for new equipment to ensure the safety of our volunteers and the community.

NVVFD receives $0 from state, local, and federal funding.

It is one of 8 volunteer fire companies in the country and the only one in the state of New Jersey that is 100% independent and relies solely on private funding. This was decided in 1921 to relieve and reduce the tax burden on the residents.

Your contribution can support the purchase of a new fire truck and tender or can be a blended gift to help “Fill the Tank” to expand the Reinvestment Fund for future needs and general operating support.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS

NVVFD serves 3,900 residents and 1,400 households as well as covers 6 miles of Interstate 287 and provides coordinated emergency response to multiple counties through a reciprocal mutual aid agreement, responding to an average of over 300 fire calls per year.

IMPACT

The trucks will have the latest technology, increasing firefighting efficiency and capacity, enabling our volunteers to do more in less time.

Every second counts in an emergency. When relying on our volunteers to administer life-saving services, our community needs to provide them with the best of the best so that the mission is fulfilled and our volunteers are safe. Upgrading our fire equipment enhances safety and efficiency and serves as a powerful incentive for recruiting new volunteers, showing them that their commitment will be supported by the best tools available.
